Elena Aguirre Martín is a chemical engineer specialised in environmental engineering. She completed her dissertation at the Laboratory of Environment, researching and analysing greenhouse gas emissions in a rural environment. Her primary experience is in carbon accounting, regulated markets, decarbonisation and net zero.
Before joining BeZero, Elena worked as a senior climate change consultant. This involved managing projects to help industries comply with all the requirements of the European Union’s Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). Among other initiatives, Elena also worked with companies to calculate carbon emissions reductions, create carbon footprinting tools and emissions reduction plans, and report to the CDP assisting in several verifications based on different standards.
