Dr Katey Valentine is a marine and freshwater biologist whose work looks at the impacts of plastic litter in aquatic environments. In particular, her work focuses on the interactions between plastic and microbial communities in UK rivers, aiming to understand the overarching effects of these interactions on the wider ecosystem.
Before joining BeZero Katey worked as an analyst at Finance Earth where she specialised in the Blue Economy. There, she contributed to the development of a fishery impact investment fund and worked with clients such as WWF, Marine Management Organisation and Plymouth City Council to develop innovative finance solutions for funding nature restoration projects.
