Prayag Thakkar is a Senior Geospatial Data Engineer with eight years of specialised expertise in data engineering and geospatial analytics. His work encompasses building global scale data pipelines, leveraging remote sensing and climate projection data, with a particular focus on scalable backend systems and machine learning operations. He has a proven track record in developing advanced geospatial solutions, such as land use classification models using high-resolution imagery as well as map-matching algorithm for GTFS transit lines. Prayag thrives on challenging data-intensive projects that require robust scalability and meticulous data management. His master's thesis looked at tracking the changes in the geoid by looking at earth gravitational observation data along with sea level anomalies and changes.
Before joining BeZero, Prayag held key engineering roles at Cervest and UP42, where he led the design and execution of critical data engineering projects. At Cervest, he spearheaded the development of climate and remote sensing pipelines for extreme wind predictions and co-architected the implementation of Databricks and role-based access controls. At UP42, Prayag was instrumental in creating on-demand geospatial analysis tools and integrating MLFlow for enhanced ML observability and experiment tracking. His extensive experience also includes deploying Kafka and building APIs to serve complex data products to end-users.
