The fourth wave of CCP labels: All eyes are on cookstoves
The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) has accepted three improved cookstove methodologies as CCP-eligible, with significant conditions, notably for fraction of non-renewable biomass (fNRB). One domestic biodigester methodology was also approved.
No BeZero Carbon-rated cookstove projects are currently CCP-eligible, but five residential heating projects that use one of the approved methodologies - with an average BeZero Carbon Rating of BB - are likely CCP-compliant.
No cookstove credits currently in circulation are CCP-eligible. Projects employing approved methodologies but rejected due to other criteria have BeZero Carbon Ratings ranging from A to C, meaning some higher quality projects have been left out of the CCP label.
